Cerro 7 colores

Alta Montaña

Seven Colors Hill, just outside Uspallata, is a hidden Andean escape reached via Ruta 13. A peaceful landscape of open valleys, colorful hills and mountain silence, perfect for hiking, photography and adventure seekers exploring Mendoza beyond the wineries.

HOW TO GET THERE

Seven Colors Hill is located along Provincial Route 13, about 9 km from Uspallata.

From Mendoza City, accessing Route 13 requires high-clearance vehicles and preferably 4x4, as it is a demanding mountain road.

From Uspallata, however, the gravel road is in good condition and can be driven with regular vehicles, always using caution due to curves, counter-curves and the presence of cyclists and runners.

Just after leaving Uspallata, at the beginning of Route 13, you’ll find the access to Uspallata Viewpoint, an excellent panoramic spot overlooking the entire town and valley, especially recommended at sunset and at night.

Look bellow for a video with the route!

WHAT TO SEE

Seven Colors Hill gradually reveals itself as you approach. Its slopes display striking natural tones that contrast with the sky and the dry pre-Andean landscape.

The area offers a unique sense of calm, with wide views over the Uspallata Valley and nearby hills equally notable for their colors.

It’s common to spot Andean birds approaching visitors, as well as locals hiking or running from town to the hill.

Changing light throughout the day transforms the scenery, making it ideal for short visits, slow contemplation, and landscape photography.

SITE INFORMATION

Route 13 is not only scenic but also historically significant.

Along Route 13, visitors can still find remains of the American Cable communication system, a key telegraph project that once connected Argentina and Chile across the Andes, forming part of the region’s mountain heritage.
