Discover Las Bóvedas of Uspallata, an 18th-century historical site that preserves Mendoza’s mining and colonial heritage. A small museum in the Andes where old adobe and stone buildings tell the story of the Jesuits, the Army of the Andes, and the region’s mining tradition.
Just 3 km from the town of Uspallata, at the beginning of Provincial Route Nº 149 and 108 km from Mendoza City, lies Las Bóvedas. Built in the late 18th century, these facilities were used to process minerals such as silver and zinc. Declared a National Historic Monument in 1945, they now host the Municipal Historical Museum.
Inside, visitors can see original artifacts, remains of furnaces and mills, art exhibitions, and models showing how the site once worked. Friendly local guides share the fascinating history with passion.
